Lake Oconee movers for lake homes and communities

GoldStrap Moving moves homeowners all around Lake Oconee, from full-time residences and second homes to condos, cottages and family lake houses. We handle the full move, or only the part you need: loading, unloading, packing or moving furniture inside your home.

Lake homes make a move harder than it looks. Long driveways, steep lots, walkout basements, docks and tight staircases all change how furniture gets out and how long the job takes. We ask about those details first, so the plan for moving day matches the house.

Lake Oconee communities we serve

Most of our lake work happens in and around the larger communities on the water. We regularly help homeowners in:

  • Reynolds Lake Oconee, including neighborhoods near Great Waters, the Landing and the other golf courses
  • Harbor Club on the Greene County side of the lake
  • Cuscowilla on the Putnam County side near Eatonton
  • Port Armor and the smaller lake neighborhoods around the shoreline
  • Private lake lots, cottages and condos all around the shoreline

GoldStrap Moving is not affiliated with any community or association. We simply work in these neighborhoods often, so we know what to ask before we arrive.

Gate access and move-in rules

Many Lake Oconee communities are gated, and most have their own rules for vendors and moving trucks. Some ask homeowners to register service providers in advance, some issue day passes at the gatehouse, and some limit move times to certain days or hours. Rules can also differ between neighborhoods inside the same community.

Before your move, check with your property owners’ association or gatehouse and tell us what applies. Give the gate our company name, GoldStrap Moving, and the date we are coming. If your community needs proof of coverage or a vendor form, tell us early so it is handled before move day, not at the gate.

Getting a truck to a lake lot

Lake lots are beautiful and often hard to reach with a moving truck. Steep or winding driveways, gravel turnarounds, low tree limbs and narrow roads can keep a large box truck from reaching the front door. Some homes have the main living area down a level, with the best route out through a walkout basement or a lower deck.

When we plan a lake move, we ask where a truck can safely park, how far the carry is to the door, and whether there are steps, slopes or a lower-level entrance. If a large truck cannot get close, we plan for a longer carry with the right equipment rather than finding out on the day. Boat house, dock and patio furniture can be included too; just list it with the rest of the move.

Moves we help with around the lake

  • Moving into or out of a lake home
  • Furnishing or clearing out a second home
  • Downsizing from a large lake house to a smaller home or a senior community
  • Loading or unloading a rental truck or a moving container
  • Moving heavy furniture between floors or rooms
  • Taking furniture and boxes to a storage unit

Beyond standard moves, we handle senior moves, packing and listing prep for sellers and their agents. Household moves are quoted as one written price, and every job follows the GoldStrap Standard.

How we protect a lake home

Lake homes tend to have wide-plank wood floors, finished trim and large pieces that do not come apart easily. Before the first piece moves, we protect floors along the route and cover door frames and corners. Furniture is padded and stretch wrapped, carried with shoulder straps or dollies, and loaded so nothing shifts on the drive. At the other end, pieces go where you want them, not in a pile by the door.

Lake Oconee moving questions

Do you serve all of Lake Oconee?

Lake Oconee and the surrounding communities are our primary service area, on both the Greene County and Putnam County sides. Send us your pickup and destination and we will confirm your move.

Can you get through the gate at Reynolds or Harbor Club?

Yes, as long as the community knows we are coming. Register GoldStrap Moving with your gatehouse or association for the date of your move, and tell us about any vendor forms or move-time rules.

What if a moving truck cannot reach my house?

Tell us about the driveway and parking when you request an estimate. If a truck cannot get close, we plan for a longer carry and bring the right equipment.

Can you move a second home that is not fully furnished?

Yes. We furnish second homes, clear them out and move only selected pieces. Many lake moves are partial moves.

Can I hire you for only part of a move?

Yes. You can book loading only, unloading only, packing, or in-home furniture moving. See all our moving services.

What should I tell you about my lake home?

Mention stairs, long or steep driveways, walkout levels, narrow doorways, gate rules and any large or fragile pieces. The more we know, the more accurate the estimate.
